⚔️ Skill and Weapon Proficiency
Tempest now uses a 3× progression rate for both learned skills and weapon proficiency. You still level skills by using them normally; the server awards three times the normal experience for each qualifying action.
What is affected
| Progression | How it gains experience | New rate |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon proficiency | Qualifying weapon attacks against monsters or other valid combat targets | 3× |
| Combat and utility skills | Successful skill use, damage, healing, buffs, and other skill actions that normally award experience | 3× |
The normal character EXP rate remains unchanged. This update does not change Silver, drops, damage, skill effects, weapon requirements, or skill-level caps.
Weapon proficiency
Weapon proficiency is tied to the weapon type used in combat. Attacking with a weapon awards proficiency experience for that weapon type. When the accumulated experience reaches the next threshold, the proficiency level increases automatically.
You can check weapon proficiency through the normal in-game proficiency interface. Proficiency requirements for skills, including class progression requirements, still apply; the update only reduces the time needed to reach them.
Skill experience
Use the skill successfully to train it:
- damage skills gain experience from qualifying combat damage;
- area skills use the experience from their valid targets;
- healing skills gain experience from effective healing;
- buffs and status skills gain experience when the action succeeds;
- actions that fail, miss their requirements, or produce no valid result do not receive normal progression credit.
Because different skills award experience from different actions, some skills will still level faster or slower than others. The 3× multiplier applies to the server-side amount each skill would normally receive; it does not force every skill to level at the same number of casts.
Reborn characters
Rebirth and reincarnation rules are unchanged. If a progression system resets or restores a skill or proficiency level, the existing reset rules still apply. The 3× rate affects new experience earned after the change; it does not retroactively grant experience or alter existing character records.
Practical tips
- Fight monsters appropriate for your level so the server awards useful combat experience.
- Use the weapon type whose proficiency you want to improve.
- For utility skills, make sure the action has a valid target and produces an effective result.
- Avoid repeatedly casting a heal at full health or a buff that cannot be applied; those actions do not provide the same progression value as a successful use.
- Keep the required weapon equipped when training weapon proficiency.
The 3× rate is implemented server-side and applies consistently to all applicable skills and weapon proficiencies on the Tempest 5065 server.
